01The answer first

In short

Egypt’s GDP per person is the higher of the two: Egypt 17,265 and Morocco 9,495 international dollars at purchasing power parity (World Bank Group, 2025).

Egypt has 3.0 times as many people, and 2.2 times the land area.

Measured as places in each statistic’s own field, the two are furthest apart on adults hit by natural disasters or severe weather (5.149 and 64.33, World Bank Group 2024), adjusted net savings (-1.129 and 21.48, World Bank Group 2021) and cereal yield (7,402 and 1,482, FAO 2023). They are closest on energy intensity (2.871 and 2.834, EIA 2024), labour force participation (44.57 and 43.94, ILO 2025) and female labour force participation (18.45 and 19.7, ILO 2025).

For 53 of the 339 shared statistics the newest readings describe different years. Those rows print both years and are left out of every comparison above.

Nothing here counts the statistics on which one country is placed higher than the other: such a count would weigh a minor survey question the same as life expectancy. The one overall answer this site gives is the Country Index 2026, below.

08Method

Sources and how to read them

Every value is the newest reading the publisher issued, exactly as each country’s profile prints it: Egypt and Morocco. A rank is a number the publisher printed; a position · derived is this site’s ordering of one published statistic; a standing is a place in the Country Index 2026.

Where a publisher compiles each country’s latest survey, the two readings can describe different years. Both years are then printed, and the row is left out of every comparison in the summary. How every number on the site is read is set out on the methodology page.
