This is a survey of adults aged 15 and over, not the International Telecommunication Union's count of internet users of all ages, so the two sets of figures will not match. At the top the gaps are smaller than a survey of about a thousand people per country can resolve.

About internet use
Internet use is the share of adults who say they went online at least once in the past three months, from the World Bank's Global Findex survey. It asks people directly, so it shows who is actually using the internet rather than how many connections have been sold.
What the number is: Adults who used the internet in the past three months (% of population aged 15+).
What it does not measure
It asks whether an adult went online at all in the past three months, not how often, at what speed or at what cost. It is a survey of adults aged 15 and over, not a count of connections or of users of every age.
