02Method
How a comparison works
- The same readings as the profiles. Every value is the newest the publisher issued, printed exactly as each country’s own page prints it.
- Years are printed. Where the two readings describe different years, both are shown, and the row is never used to say which is higher.
- No winner. Nothing counts the statistics on which one country is ahead. Each statistic says which end is better; the reader reads the two numbers.
- Ranks are the publisher’s. A rank is a number the publisher printed; a position · derived is this site’s ordering of one statistic; a standing is a place in the Country Index 2026.
03Questions
About these comparisons
Why can I not compare any two countries?
Pages exist for 60 pairs, the ones people compare most. A page for every possible pair — 25,200 of them — would be mostly pages nobody reads, and search engines treat that kind of site as spam. More pairs are added as readers ask for them: choose a pair without a page in the picker and ask for it.
Which country is better?
A comparison here never says. It prints both values for every statistic, the publisher and the year, and which end of each statistic is the better one. The one overall answer this site gives is the Country Index 2026, its own ordering of published statistics, subject by subject — and each pair page shows both countries' standings in it.
Why do two values on a page sometimes have different years?
Some publishers compile each country's latest survey, so one country's reading can be from 2021 and the other's from 2018. Both years are printed, and those rows are never used to say which country is higher.
