The figure is the share of people in IPC/CH Phase 3 or above - crisis-level acute food insecurity or worse - with the headcount and the size of the analysed population stored beside it. ⚠ THE SHARE IS OF THE POPULATION FSIN ANALYSED, NOT OF THE COUNTRY. That is how FSIN computes it, and reading it as a national percentage would overstate every figure. ⚠ THIS IS THE THINNEST INDICATOR ON THE SITE and it is not a world ranking: only countries in acute food crisis are assessed, so a country absent from it usually has no food crisis - the opposite of a bad result. ⚠ Each edition describes the PREVIOUS year, which is why the report year and the data year differ throughout. ⚠ Only FSIN’s own “whole country” rows that it marked as included in the report are used. Where FSIN reports a country only as sub-populations it is absent rather than summed - Palestine is the case that matters, published as Gaza Strip and West Bank with no combined figure. ⚠ ⚠ No rank is published. A POSITION is derived here (2026-09-10) by ordering the share of the analysed population in IPC Phase 3+. ⚠ THE FIELD IS THE CRISIS LIST, NOT THE WORLD: the GRFC analyses only the 44 countries already in acute food crisis, so the last position is the least-affected country IT looked at, and a country’s absence from the table means it was never assessed.
