24 editions, 1996 to 2022, covering about 200 countries — one of the deepest annual series on the site. ⚠ This is ONE of the six Worldwide Governance Indicators, not a composite of them: the World Bank publishes no overall WGI score, so the indicator is named for the dimension it actually leads with rather than implying a total that does not exist. The other five dimensions (voice and accountability, political stability, regulatory quality, rule of law, control of corruption) are stored alongside it as columns. Government effectiveness is the headline because it is the one dimension the site does not already cover from an independent publisher — rule of law comes from the World Justice Project and corruption from Transparency International. ⚠ The Bank publishes a percentile rank (0–100), not an ordinal position, so it is stored as its own column and this dataset carries no rank. 14 dependent territories the Bank also scores (Bermuda, Guam, Réunion and others) are not imported; the site is country-scoped.
