25 reference years (2000–2024), covering 193 to 203 countries, with wind and solar, fossil fuels and total generation stored beside the headline share. It says how much of the electricity a country actually generated came from renewable sources — hydro, wind, solar, bioenergy and geothermal together — which is the one climate measure a country can move within a decade. ⚠ IT IS ELECTRICITY, NOT ENERGY: transport, heating and industry burn fuel outside this number, so a country can read 100% here and still run mostly on oil. ⚠ THE SHARE IS EMBER’S OWN published percentage, stored digit for digit; it is not renewable TWh divided by total TWh computed here, which would disagree with Ember in the last decimal. ⚠ SEVEN OF 193 COUNTRIES tie at 100% in 2024 (Albania, Bhutan, DR Congo, Ethiopia, Iceland, Nepal and Paraguay), all of them hydro or geothermal states — 3.6% of the field, which is why a derived position is still published here, unlike Access to Electricity where 122 countries tie at the ceiling. ⚠ Ember publishes no rank, so none is stored; the POSITION on the statistics page is derived here by ordering the share, and labelled as ours. ⚠ Years before 2000 and the year in progress are not imported: Ember’s history reaches only 21 to 52 countries before 2000, and the current year held 93 countries when this was written.
