Exports of goods and services (% of GDP)Neither end is better — this is a shape, not a scorePublished by World Bank Group
56 reference years (1970–2025), covering 96 to 185 countries, pulled from the World Bank’s indicator API (NE.EXP.GNFS.ZS). Everything a country sells abroad, goods and services together, measured against its own output. ⚠ NEITHER END IS BETTER, so this indicator carries no good/bad colouring anywhere on the site and does not feed its topics’ rankings — it is charted on them, not scored by them. ⚠ It is one half of `trade-to-gdp`, which carries the sum. Both are here because the sum cannot tell an exporter from an importer, and the gap between this and imports is a country’s trade balance. ⚠ Values above 100% are normal for re-export hubs — the observed maximum is about 434%. ⚠ These are not 56 published reports — see `restatedByReport`. ⚠ No rank is published. A POSITION is derived here (2026-09-10) by ordering the score LARGEST FIRST, and it is a SIZE ORDER rather than a league table: this measure has no better end, so position 1 names the country with the biggest figure and says nothing about how that country is doing. The change arrows stay grey for the same reason, and the indicator is still left out of the Country Index.

Everything a country sells abroad, goods and services together, as a share of its own output — published by the World Bank via its indicator API (NE.EXP.GNFS.ZS). ⚠ Neither end is better: a high figure is an open or re-exporting economy, and a low one can be a large self-sufficient market. Read beside imports, whose difference from this is a country's trade balance. No rank is published, so none is stored or derived.
