4 editions, 2022 to 2025, imported from WIPO's own data annex — the only source here that needs a separate download per edition, which is also why the series does not reach further back: WIPO changed its publication numbering and the earlier annexes are not at a matching URL. Each edition is named for the year it is published and uses the most recent data available for each of its ~80 underlying indicators. Coverage grew from 132 to 139 economies. ⚠ WIPO changes the indicator set, its data sources and its imputation every year, and advises against reading rank movements straight off two published editions — the trend line here is best read as a broad direction rather than a precise gain or loss of places. This does not affect the Country Index, which compares countries within a single edition. WIPO ranks economies rather than countries, which is why Hong Kong appears in its own right.
