36 reference years (1990–2025), covering 185 to 199 countries, pulled from the World Bank's indicator API (NY.GDP.PCAP.PP.KD). Output per person, converted at purchasing power parities by the International Comparison Program so that a dollar means the same basket of goods in every country — which is what makes it comparable, and what makes it an estimate rather than a measurement. ⚠ These are not 36 published reports: the World Development Indicators is a continuously updated database that restates the whole series with each release, and `restatedByReport` names the release this was pulled from (August 2026). ⚠ A statistic, not an index, and the most editorially loaded one on the site: the Bank ranks nobody on it, and calling a richer country a better one is an opinion no publisher here has offered. It is deliberately left out of the Country Index for that reason. Stored to whole dollars, because two decimals on a PPP-converted national accounts estimate is false precision.
