35 reference years (1990–2024), covering 98 to 215 countries, pulled from the World Bank's indicator API (EG.ELC.ACCS.ZS) and produced by the Bank's ESMAP programme as the SDG 7.1.1 electrification dataset. The share of the population with electricity at home — one of the few measures here where a large part of the world has genuinely finished: more than half of all countries now report 100%, so the spread that matters is entirely at the bottom of the table. ⚠ Coverage before 2000 is much thinner (98 countries in 1990 against 215 from 2009 on), so the early trend lines describe a different and smaller set of countries. ⚠ These are not 35 published reports — see `restatedByReport`, which names the World Development Indicators release this was pulled from (August 2026). ⚠ ⚠ A statistic, not an index: no rank is published. A POSITION is derived here (2026-09-10) by ordering the score. ⚠ IT OPENS WITH A 122-WAY TIE: 122 of the 215 countries in the 2024 edition report 100% and every one of them shares position 1, so the column reads 1, 1, 1 … 123. That is not a fault in the ordering, it is the finding — for most of the world this measure is finished, and only the tail still separates.
