The MPI counts poverty as overlapping deprivations in health, education and living standards rather than by income, and equals the share of people who are poor multiplied by the average intensity of their deprivation — both stored here beside it. ⚠ THERE IS NO DATA YEAR, and that is a property of the index rather than a gap in this import: every country’s figure comes from its own most recent household survey, so the 2025 edition mixes surveys from 2013 to 2024. Each row carries its own survey year, which is a STRING because many are two-year fieldwork periods (“2015-2016”). ⚠ For the same reason this indicator is excluded from the Country Index, which needs a stated data year to judge whether an edition is too old to count. ⚠ OPHI publishes no rank, so none is stored; the POSITION shown on the statistics page is derived here by ordering the score, and labelled as ours. ⚠ Position 1 is the POOREST country, the way round every higher-is-worse measure here runs; OPHI’s own table is printed least-poor first, so the two do not open on the same country.
