5 survey waves — 2011, 2014, 2017, 2021 and 2024 — covering 122 to 144 countries, pulled from the World Bank's indicator API (FX.OWN.TOTL.ZS). It measures financial inclusion: the share of adults who hold an account at a bank or other financial institution, or who used a mobile-money service in the past year. Unlike its three World Bank siblings on this site these ARE separately published reports, one per Global Findex survey wave, which is why no `restatedByReport` is set. ⚠ The API also carries a 2022 row for just 16 countries — a partial refresh between waves, not an edition — and the importer skips it rather than publish a 16-country page beside a 144-country one. ⚠ A statistic, not an index: the Bank ranks nobody on it, so no rank is stored in the data. The POSITION shown on the statistics page is derived here by ordering the published score (decided 2026-09-07 — the first indicator to opt in via `derivedRank`), and it is labelled as ours throughout: the survey percentages carry full precision with no tied values, so the ordering is clean, unlike a ceiling-bound statistic such as electricity access where 122 countries share 100%.
