Frontier Technology Readiness Index

14 years, 2010–2023 · 170 countries · 6 measures

UNCTAD's Frontier Technology Readiness Index measures how ready a country is to use, adopt and adapt frontier technologies such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things and blockchain. It combines five building blocks — ICT infrastructure, skills, research and patenting, high-tech industry and access to finance — into one score from 0 to 1.

This site holds every year from 2010 to 2023, read from UNCTAD’s own data and stored exactly as published.

Precision

The headline is stored to 4 decimals, as published.

Rounded by this site

Never. Tables on screen may show fewer decimals; the files never do.

Changed by this site

Reshaped into one row per country: regional and income-group totals are left out, only the columns listed are kept, each row gets its ISO 3166 code, and some country names are brought to one spelling. No value is recalculated, rescaled or rounded.

Read from UNCTAD's own US.FTRI bulk file on UNCTADstat, the data behind the Technology and Innovation Report. Rows of UNCTAD's file that repeat another country's numbers exactly are left out; every other value is stored as published, with the five building blocks beside the headline.
