Nitrogen, phosphate and potash applied per hectare of arable land. ⚠ NEITHER END IS BETTER, so this indicator carries no good/bad colouring anywhere on the site and does not feed its topics’ rankings — it is charted on them, not scored by them. This one is a problem at BOTH ends: too little fertiliser is a yield problem across much of Africa, and too much is a runoff, algal-bloom and emissions problem across much of Asia and Europe. ⚠ The extreme top of the table is territories with almost no arable land to divide by, not the world’s heaviest users — the denominator is what is unusual there, not the fertiliser. ⚠ These are not separate published reports — `restatedByReport` names the World Development Indicators release they were pulled from. ⚠ A statistic, not an index. ⚠ No rank is published.
