IHDI (0–1)Higher is better — rank 1 leadsPublished by UNDP Human Development Report Office
We hold 14 editions of this indicator, from 2010 to 2023 — 2,143 rows in total, and 169 countries in the newest.
14 reference years (2010–2023), 115 to 169 countries. The HDI discounted for how unequally health, education and income are actually distributed within a country: in a perfectly equal society it would equal the HDI, and the gap between the two is the development lost to inequality. Best read next to `human-development-index` rather than instead of it — a country can rank well on one and poorly on the other, which is the entire point of the measure. ⚠ Not 14 published editions: the 2025 Human Development Report recalculates every year on one methodology. UNDP publishes no rank for the IHDI, so none is stored; the POSITION shown on the statistics page is derived here by ordering the score, and labelled as ours.
The year a report is NAMED for and the year its numbers DESCRIBE are different facts, and they disagree constantly — so both are listed. Every row opens the full country table for that edition, sortable by any column.
