It compares how much of a government's spending goes to agriculture with how much of the economy agriculture actually is: 1.0 means the two match, below 1.0 means agriculture gets less than its economic weight. It is a POLICY measure, not an output measure — nothing else on the site says what a government chooses to spend on. ⚠ IT IS A RATIO OF TWO SHARES, so it rises when farming SHRINKS as well as when spending grows: a country whose agricultural sector contracts can climb this table without spending another penny. That is why both components are stored, and why they should be read together. ⚠ SDG target 2.a asks for this to rise, which is the publisher's own framing and why a higher value sorts first. The FAO ranks nobody, so no rank is stored; the POSITION is derived here and labelled as ours.
