The SPI scores how well a country's own statistical system works, across five pillars — data use, data services, data products, data sources and data infrastructure. It is the only measure here whose subject is the production of data itself, which makes it a useful caution to read beside every other indicator on the site: a country with a weak statistical system is a country whose other numbers are shakier. ⚠ These are not 9 separately published reports. The SPI was introduced in 2021 and back-computed to 2016, and each release recalculates the whole panel — `restatedByReport` names the World Development Indicators release this was pulled from (August 2026), not a printed annual report. ⚠ A statistic, not an index: no rank is published, so none is stored; the POSITION shown on the statistics page is derived here by ordering the score, and labelled as ours.
