Civilian Deaths in Organized Violence

37 years, 1989–2025 · 196 countries · 3 measures

How many civilians were killed inside each country's borders in armed conflict and organised violence — in fighting that involved a government, in fighting between armed groups, and in deliberate attacks on civilians. The Uppsala Conflict Data Program has coded it, event by event, every year since 1989.

From UCDP's own country-year dataset on organised violence, the same file as the total death count; nothing is added up by this site. UCDP's country list has Israel and no Palestine, so deaths in Gaza and the West Bank are counted under Israel.
