Household and NPISH final consumption expenditure (% of GDP)Neither end is better — this is a shape, not a scorePublished by World Bank Group
We hold 56 editions of this indicator, from 1970 to 2025 — 8,029 rows in total, and 131 countries in the newest.
56 reference years (1970–2025), covering 93 to 180 countries, as published by the World Bank via its indicator API (NE.CON.PRVT.ZS). What households and the non-profits serving them actually spend, as a share of GDP. With gross capital formation and government consumption — both already on the site — it completes the demand side of the national accounts. ⚠ A STRUCTURAL SHARE, NOT A SCORE. A high figure can mean a consumer economy or an economy that invests and exports very little, and the number alone does not say which. ⚠ It can exceed 100% where consumption is funded from aid or remittances rather than domestic output. ⚠ Years before 1970 report fewer than 80 countries and are not imported. ⚠ No rank is published, so none is stored or derived.
The year a report is NAMED for and the year its numbers DESCRIBE are different facts, and they disagree constantly — so both are listed. Every row opens the full country table for that edition, sortable by any column.
