6 annual snapshots (2020–2025), covering 61 to 91 countries. It scores how severe a humanitarian crisis is, from the conditions of the people affected, the complexity of the crisis and how hard it is to operate there. ⚠ THIS IS NOT A WORLD RANKING. Only countries in humanitarian crisis are scored, never the ~190 the rest of this site covers, so a country missing from an edition usually has no crisis to score - the opposite of a bad result. ⚠ ACAPS publishes MONTHLY; this takes the last release of each year, and each edition names the month it came from. ⚠ Where a country has more than one crisis the most severe is shown, because ACAPS publishes no combined country figure - summing or averaging would invent one. ⚠ The series stops at 2025 because ACAPS replaced the 1–5 scale with a 1–10 scale in January 2026; importing both would show every country’s severity doubling overnight as an artefact of the method. The importer reads the scale annotation out of the file and refuses anything that is not 1–5. ⚠ ⚠ No rank is published. A POSITION is derived here (2026-09-10) by ordering the severity score, most severe first. ⚠ IT PLACES CRISES, NOT COUNTRIES: only the 81 countries INFORM assesses as being in crisis appear, so the last position is the mildest crisis on that list rather than the calmest country in the world. The 1–5 scale is coarse — 81 countries hold 32 distinct values, six of them sharing position 52.
